    Description

Hygrophila araguaia is a compact, fine-leaved stem plant with small narrow leaves that shift from olive-green to warm pinkish-brown in brighter light. This product pairs it with aquarium moss on a piece of driftwood, creating an unusual planted feature that combines the colour interest of the stem plant with the soft texture of moss on natural wood. It is particularly attractive in smaller tanks and shrimp set-ups.

Hygrophila araguaia is an easy plant. It grows in low to medium light without CO2 injection and is tolerant of a wide range of water conditions. Growth is steady and the plant responds well to regular trimming which encourages bushy, compact regrowth. The moss is equally easy and spreads slowly over the wood surface over time.

Both plants are pre-established on the driftwood so no further attachment is needed — simply rinse and place. The piece can be positioned anywhere in the tank and repositioned as needed. Suited to aquariums of 30 litres and above and particularly attractive in shrimp tanks where the moss provides ongoing grazing and shelter.

    Plant Sizes

The image of the plant you'll be receiving is just an example of what you can expect. Each plant is unique and may vary in size and shape, so it won't be an exact match to the photo. If we provide a size guide, keep in mind that it's just an estimate and that plants can vary in size depending on the time of year.

    What is Hygrophila araguaia?

A compact, fine-leaved stem plant from the Amazon. Its small leaves shift from olive-green to pinkish-brown in good light, giving it an attractive warm tone.

    Does it need CO2?

Not strictly required — it grows without CO2 in low to medium light, though supplementation improves growth density and colour.

Do I need to attach anything when it arrives?

No — both the Hygrophila and moss are pre-established on the driftwood. Just rinse and place.

Will the moss spread over the wood?

Yes — the moss will slowly increase its coverage over the driftwood surface over time.

Is it suitable for shrimp tanks?

Yes, fully shrimp-safe. The moss provides excellent grazing and shelter for shrimp.
