    Description

A mixed selection of 20 aquarium moss balls in a range of sizes, providing excellent value for setting up a shrimp tank, biotope, or natural aquascape from scratch. Moss balls — whether Marimo, Chladoflora, or floating varieties — are among the most low-maintenance and functional plant options available, providing spherical planted texture and important habitat for shrimp, fry, and bottom-dwelling fish.

All moss balls in this selection grow in low light without CO2 injection and suit a very wide range of water conditions. They require occasional gentle rolling between the palms to maintain their round shape and ensure even light exposure. Shrimp actively graze on the surface biofilm and are highly attracted to moss ball clusters.

The selection provides immediate planting impact when placed across the foreground or mid-ground of the aquarium. The mix of sizes creates a natural, varied appearance. Suitable for aquariums of 30 litres and above and particularly effective as an affordable, instant planted set-up for a new shrimp tank.

    Common Questions

What types of moss balls are in the mix?

The selection includes a mix of sizes and may include Marimo (Chladoflora), floating moss balls, and other aquarium moss ball varieties. The exact mix varies with stock.

Do they need CO2 or specialist lighting?

No — moss balls grow under standard aquarium lighting without CO2 injection. One of the most low-tech planted options available.

Are they suitable for shrimp tanks?

Yes, fully. Shrimp are highly attracted to moss balls and graze on the surface biofilm constantly. The balls also provide shelter for young shrimp.

Some balls are floating — is this normal?

Yes — moss balls can trap air during transit and float. A gentle squeeze underwater releases the air and they will sink.

How do I maintain their round shape?

Roll them gently between your palms at each water change. This keeps them spherical and ensures all sides receive even light.
