Cryptocoryne wendtii Brown is one of the most popular and widely kept Cryptocoryne varieties, producing rosettes of lance-shaped leaves with attractive brown to olive-brown colouration on the upper surface and contrasting deep burgundy-red undersides. Its robust, reliable nature and distinctive warm leaf colour make it a perennial favourite in the midground of planted aquariums across all experience levels.
It is a thoroughly easy plant, growing well under low light without CO2 injection and tolerating a very wide range of water conditions. Established in the substrate, it spreads slowly via runners to form a naturally expanding group over time. Like all Cryptocoryne it may experience a period of initial leaf melt after introduction — this is normal and new leaves will emerge once the plant has re-established.
Supplied as a tissue culture cup, Cryptocoryne wendtii Brown arrives completely free from snails, pest algae, and pesticide residue. Rinse the gel, separate and plant the individual plantlets into the substrate. Suits aquariums from 30 litres upward. An excellent first Cryptocoryne and a reliable low-tech midground staple.
