Lilaeopsis mauritiana is a compact, fine-leaved foreground plant producing very short, narrow, cylindrical or strap-like leaves in bright green that spread across the substrate to form a dense, low-growing mat. Its restrained height and fine grass-like form make it an attractive alternative to Eleocharis and similar foreground grasses in planted aquariums.
It benefits from medium light and CO2 supplementation for the most vigorous lateral spread and the densest, most carpet-like coverage. Without CO2 it can be grown but spreads less readily and tends toward a looser, less dense form. It spreads via runners, producing daughter plants that fill in gaps over time.
Supplied as an Easy Grow tissue culture cup, this plant arrives completely free from snails, pest algae, and pesticide residue. Rinse the gel and plant small clusters into the substrate. Suits aquariums from 30 litres upward with medium light and CO2 — a refined and attractive foreground grass for planted aquariums and a safe choice for shrimp tanks.
