Description
Anubias barteri is a robust, broad-leaved aquarium plant with glossy dark green leaves growing from a creeping rhizome. This version comes pre-attached to a piece of natural bogwood, creating an instant planted feature that needs only to be placed in the aquarium. Bogwood is a classic aquarium material that darkens the water with natural tannins benefiting many soft-water fish species and shrimp.
Anubias is one of the easiest aquarium plants available. It grows in low to medium light without CO2 injection and tolerates a wide range of water parameters and temperatures. Growth is slow but the plant is very long-lived — once settled onto the bogwood it continues spreading and requires virtually no ongoing attention.
The rhizome is pre-grown onto the bogwood so no further attachment or planting is needed. Simply rinse and place in your aquarium. The bogwood may release some tannins initially, temporarily tinting the water amber — this is entirely natural and harmless. The Anubias continues growing steadily along the wood over time, gradually increasing its coverage.

The image of the plant you'll be receiving is just an example of what you can expect. Each plant is unique and may vary in size and shape, so it won't be an exact match to the photo. If we provide a size guide, keep in mind that it's just an estimate and that plants can vary in size depending on the time of year.

Nice plant on a nice driftwood! Looks great and growing already well pleased!
Very disappointed with what I actually received, the plant looks nothing like the picture it is very long and low and although it is now starting to grow it looked to me like two pieces of root trimmed from another plant had been tied to a piece of wood, not at all established. I actually ordered this as a centrepiece for my 80 litre aquarium, Definitely not worth the £35.00 I paid for it.
Nice plant for a planted tank , Looks fab .
Stunning plant . Huge leaves and very healthy looking. Has been in the aquarium now for few weeks and has already grown new leaves. All my aquatic plants are now from this supplier. Highly recommended.
Product FAQs
Helpful details before you buy.
Will the bogwood discolour my water?
It may release some tannins initially, giving the water a light amber tint. This is natural, harmless, and beneficial to many fish. It settles over time.
Does it need CO2?
No — Anubias grows well without CO2 in low to medium light.
Do I need to attach anything when it arrives?
No — the plant is pre-grown onto the bogwood. Just rinse and place it wherever you want in the tank.
Will it flower?
Yes — Anubias commonly flowers in aquariums, producing small white spathes above the water. A sign of a healthy, contented plant.
Is it safe for shrimp?
Yes, fully shrimp-safe. The bogwood also provides additional hiding spots and surfaces for biofilm growth that shrimp graze on.
