Description
Anubias nana 'Gold' is one of the most distinctive Anubias varieties available, with leaves that glow with a warm yellow-green to golden tone rather than the deep green typical of most Anubias. Under good indirect lighting the golden colour is at its most vivid; under low light the leaves tend slightly darker.
Care requirements are identical to standard Anubias nana: no CO2, happy in low to moderate light, and fixed to wood or rock rather than planted into substrate. Avoid direct intense lighting — slow-growing Anubias leaves are prone to algae under high light, and the lighter-coloured leaves of the Gold variety are more susceptible than the darker standard forms. Regular liquid fertilisation helps maintain the best colour.
Attach the rhizome to wood or rock with thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome.

Aquatic plant with "bright green leaves that really do shine gold" praised for visual appeal and robustness. Customers said it "looks fantastic" and arrives in excellent condition with quick delivery. Some note it's smaller than standard variety and may be too large for nano tanks. One shopper felt it was "nothing special."

Looks fantastic tied to shrimp tubes. Thank you
I love this plant, contrasts beautifully with my other Anubias with it's bright green leaves that really do shine gold.
Very quick delivery and the plant looks fantastic.
Arrived quickly and in very good condition. Will buy again
Plant arrived and was surprised at the size of it, used to getting about five leafs on rare plants, but if anything it's a bit big if you have a nano tank, hoping growing it submerged will reduce it's size in my low tech tank, or divide it into four plant's which be a good idea if have more tanks or larger tanks..
Excellent condition plant, as always.
Very nice plant, very robust which it needs to be as my plecos seem to like it, lovely bright leaves.
I've been looking for a retailer that supplies the golden variety of Anubias for a while and was disappointed when Aqua essentials did not sell it either. Now they do! At last, somewhere I can get them from.
It is worth noting that this is a petite variety with smaller leaves that Anubias nana. It is great for 'scaping with a more vibrant colour than other Anubias. But you do really need to clump several together for best effect.
Just an Anubias plant with a lighter shade. Nothing special.
Product FAQs
Helpful details before you buy.
What makes Anubias nana Gold different?
The leaves are a warm yellow-green to golden tone rather than the deep green typical of Anubias. Under good indirect lighting the golden colour is at its most vivid.
Will the colour change?
Under low light the leaves can become slightly darker. Very intense direct light can bleach them. Moderate indirect lighting gives the best golden tones.
Does it need CO2?
No — care requirements are identical to standard Anubias nana. Low maintenance, no CO2 required.
How do I plant Anubias nana Gold?
Attach the rhizome to wood or rock with thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome — this causes rot.
Does it benefit from fertiliser?
Yes — regular liquid fertiliser helps maintain the golden leaf colour. Without nutrients the leaves can become paler and less vivid over time.
