    Description

Echinodorus chrileni is a rare and distinctive Echinodorus cultivar with unusual textured leaf patterning — a combination of light and dark markings that creates a decorative, almost painterly quality on each leaf. Less commonly stocked than mainstream sword plants, it's a worthwhile addition to a planted aquarium for the leaf interest alone.

Medium light, no CO2 required, planted in substrate with root tabs. Care requirements are the same as any Echinodorus — it's the leaf patterning that sets it apart rather than any particular demands in cultivation.

Plant in the midground to background. Propagation via daughter plants on flower stems once the plant is well established.

A beautiful plant which arrived in excellent condition. Just one leaf lost overall which is very impressive for a plant that's been transferred.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

    What makes chrileni distinctive?

The unusual textured leaf patterning — a combination of light and dark markings that gives each leaf a decorative, distinctive appearance compared to plain-leaved swords.

    Does it need CO2?

No — grows without CO2. Root tabs near the roots support the best growth.

    Is it hard to find?

Yes — less commonly stocked than mainstream swords like bleheri or ozelot.

    How large does it get?

Moderate — 20–35cm in most conditions. Midground to background positioning.

    How do I propagate it?

Daughter plants on flower stems — detach once they have 3–4 leaves and visible roots.
