Description
A ceramic fish house structure pre-grown with both Microsorum pteropus (Java fern) and aquarium moss — two of the most reliable aquarium plants combined on a single ready-made decor piece. The Java fern contributes its broad, dark green fronds while the moss softens the ceramic surface, creating a layered planted cave feature that looks established and natural from the moment it is placed in the tank.
Both plants are easy and undemanding. Java fern grows in low light without CO2 injection and is tolerant of a very wide range of water conditions. The moss is equally low-maintenance. Both are long-lived and slow-growing, requiring very little ongoing attention. Shrimp and small fish use the structure as shelter and graze on the moss surface and Java fern leaves.
Both plants are pre-established on the fish house so no further attachment is needed — simply rinse and place in the aquarium. The ceramic is heavy and sinks immediately. Suited to aquariums of 30 litres and above and effective in any aquarium where a combination of shelter and planted decor is wanted.

Does it need CO2 or special lighting?
No — both Java fern and moss grow under standard aquarium lighting without CO2. One of the most low-tech planted decor options available.
What fish will use the house for shelter?
Small catfish, loaches, dwarf cichlids, corydoras, and shy community fish readily adopt ceramic fish houses as shelter and territory.
Is it suitable for shrimp?
Yes, fully. Both plants are shrimp-safe and the fish house provides shelter. Shrimp graze on the moss and the Java fern biofilm.
Will the plants spread or grow further?
Yes, slowly. The moss will gradually increase its coverage and may spread onto the surrounding substrate. The Java fern will produce new fronds over time.
