Description

Alternanthera reineckii 'Pink' XL is the same reliable pink stem plant — supplied in a larger pot with a more established root system and more developed stems. That head start means more immediate visual impact when first planted, without waiting for a small cutting to establish.

Care requirements are identical to the standard size: medium to bright lighting and CO2 supplementation bring out the full pink-to-red tones and encourage compact bushy growth. Without CO2, the plant survives but colour intensity diminishes. Plant in groups for best effect in midground or background positions.

Propagation is straightforward — trim the tops and replant as cuttings, and the original stems will branch and bush out.

What is the difference between the XL and standard sizes?

The XL pot contains a more established plant with a developed root system and more stems. More immediate impact when first planted.

Does it need CO2?

CO2 is strongly recommended for the best pink-red colouration and compact bushy growth. Without CO2 the colour fades and stems grow more leggy.

How do I propagate it?

Trim the tops and replant them as cuttings. The original stems will branch and become bushier over time.

Where should I place it?

Midground or background, in groups of three or more stems for the strongest colour effect.

How tall does it grow?

With CO2 and good lighting it can reach 40–60cm. Regular trimming keeps it compact and encourages denser bushy growth.
