    Description

Ammania pedicellata 'Gold' is an unusual aquarium plant from Africa with warm yellow-green to gold-toned leaves and contrasting brown stems — a colour combination you rarely see in the planted tank hobby. Most stem plants offer red or green; this one fills a distinct gap with its warm amber colouring.

It is relatively easy by stem plant standards: it tolerates both hard and soft water, suits temperatures of 22–30°C, and doesn't need the intensive maintenance of more demanding species. CO2 supplementation and good lighting will bring out the best colour, but it copes reasonably well without them too.

Note: availability is seasonal. The image shows the species at full potential — exact size on arrival will vary.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

What makes Ammania pedicellata Gold unusual?

The warm yellow-green to gold leaf colour is genuinely rare in the planted tank hobby. Most stem plants are red or green — this fills a distinct gap.

    Is it difficult to grow?

Relatively easy by stem plant standards. It tolerates hard or soft water and a wide temperature range. CO2 and good lighting improve colour but are not essential.

    Is it seasonal?

Yes — availability from growers varies. It can be difficult to source, so worth grabbing if it's in stock.

    How tall does it grow?

With CO2 and good light it can reach 30–40cm, making it suitable for midground to background placement.

    What light does it need?

Medium to bright lighting for the best colour development. Under low light the gold tones become more muted and growth is slower.
