    Description

Bucephalandra theia 'Red' is the red form of the popular theia Bucephalandra, producing the same slightly wavy, textured leaves as standard theia but in a warm red to red-green tone that provides strong colour contrast in aquascapes. The waviness of the leaves catches the light well and the red colouration stands out clearly against green plants on adjacent hardscape.

Care is the same as all Buce: low light, attach to hardscape, no CO2 required but it deepens the red colouration. Slow growing and very low maintenance. Shrimp are active on the leaf surface as with all Bucephalandra.

Attach the rhizome to wood or rock with thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

How does theia Red differ from theia Green?

The leaves carry warm red to red-green tones rather than the standard dark green. Same wavy leaf shape and iridescent quality — different colour.

    Does the red colour stay?

Yes — stable red tone, though it can deepen slightly under better lighting and with CO2.

    Does it need CO2?

No — grows without CO2, though supplementation can deepen the red colouration.

    How do I plant it?

Attach the rhizome to wood or rock with thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome.

    Is it shrimp-safe?

Yes — all Bucephalandra are excellent with shrimp.
