Description

Vallisneria spiralis Red is the warm-toned form of this classic aquarium plant, producing long ribbon-like leaves that develop attractive reddish-brown to olive-red tones alongside the base green colouration. Under good light the warm reddish tones are more pronounced, particularly on newer growth, adding a subtle colour dimension to the classic Vallisneria grass effect in the background.

It is just as easy and undemanding as the standard green spiralis — growing without CO2 in low to medium light and tolerating a wide range of water conditions including moderately hard and alkaline water. It spreads by runners to fill the background with a spreading stand of warm-coloured ribbon leaves. Daughter plants can be thinned and repositioned to control the spread over time.

Supplied as a bunch ready to plant, Vallisneria spiralis Red suits aquariums from 40 litres upward. Its combination of warm reddish colouration, easy care, and classic grass form makes it a popular choice for hobbyists who want a little colour in the background without the demands of more complex red stem plants.

Note: Do not use liquid carbon with vallis as it will melt it.

Aquarium plants

Very disappointing vallis.just died off after a few days. This is totally unusual. This co are great to deal with.

Very unsual as Vallis red is the toughest of all vallis. I'd check your water parameters and come back to me for advice. Also don't use liquid carbon when your tank has vallis - otherwise it melts...

Arrived quickly and well packaged. Planted same day and looking healthy. Too early to say how well it will do. On second day found one floating due to two clowns having a mad few sessions, but planted again out of their way.

Plants arrived in great condition, good set of roots on them, now in the tank there was the inevitable die back but very minimal one or two leaves maximum, all are now growing well and I'm looking forward to them spreading out with lots of runners.

Would recommend these if you want some height but not overwhelming bushes blocking the light.
