    Description

Cryptocoryne walkeri is a compact Sri Lankan Cryptocoryne producing fresh, bright green leaves that are slightly elongated and lightly wavy. It typically reaches 15–20cm in height, making it a natural midground plant in most aquariums. It is one of the easier and more adaptable Cryptocoryne species, forgiving of water condition variations and establishing reliably once planted.

Low light, no CO2, planted in substrate. Root tabs support faster establishment. Like all Crypts, temporary leaf melt can follow being moved — leave the rhizome in the substrate and new growth will appear. Once settled it spreads via runners and forms an attractive, well-structured colony over time.

Plant roots in the substrate without burying the crown. Foreground to midground positioning in most aquariums.

Due to the indiferent service of Royal Mail, this was in the post for a week. However 24 hours on it hasn't melted yet. It's a nice Dutch grown plant to add to my Crypt. collection.

I am very happy with this plant. They all arrived in great condition, well packed and in a healthy condition and have begun to thrive in situ. These plants were very reasonably priced, much cheaper than my LFS. A good buy that I am more than happy with.

Is there a reason this is labelled as an easy category plant on the website when the manufacturers tag that comes with the plant classes it as an average category plant?
I have received several different species that I ordered on the basis of them being easy but they are marked as average by the manufacturer

    Aqua Essentials

Different manufacturers list it differently but we consider this an easy plant.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

    What is 'crypt melt'?

When moved, Cryptocoryne sometimes dissolve their leaves. This is normal. Leave the rhizome in place and new leaves will regrow.

    Is walkeri easy to grow?

Yes — one of the more adaptable Sri Lankan Crypts, forgiving of variations in water conditions and relatively quick to establish.

    Does it need CO2?

No — grows without CO2. Root tabs or a nutrient-rich substrate help it establish faster.

    What size does it reach?

Typically 15–20cm — midground positioning in most aquariums.

    How do I plant it?

Plant roots in the substrate without burying the crown. It spreads via runners over time.
