    This is a special order item. We order Friday for Wednesday delivery.

    Plants only absorb CO₂ when your lights are on, so there is no point in adding gas at night time. Not only is it wasteful, but carbon dioxide binds to oxygen and you can cause major distress or death in your livestock.

    The Colombo CO₂ Solenoid should be used with a domestic timer (just like your lights timer) and automates when your CO₂ comes on and off. I recommend it comes on 1 hour before your lights come on and turn off 1 hour before they go off (this is optimal). By using this solenoid you will not only save a lot of gas, reduce any risk to your fish/shrimp and save you plenty of money (as you won't need to purchase CO₂ bottles as often!). Colombo have now designed a connector which fits the solenoid and regulator nicely meaning your connection is rock solid and much neater too.     Easy to fit but remember to buy a timer first.

    I added the Solinoid to an existing CO2 set up. It was easy to fit to the airline near the gas bottle. I fastened it to the tank cabinet to keep it stable. Once tightened onto the airline I plugged in to a timer. It turns on 1 hr before the lights come on/off 30 mins before they turn off. It’s only been running for 2 days, but it will save me 14 hours of CO2 per day more than doubling the life of my gas bottle. Well worth the cost. It is sturdily built and easy to fit. What more could you ask?
