Description

Originating from South America this versatile foreground aquarium plant is easy to grow - common name of hair grass, dwarf hairgrass or needle spikerush (the last one being less common). It's also found in Europe, parts of Asia, North America, South America and Australia - so widespread!

Provide it with CO2 and watch it throw out runners and spread through your aquarium quickly. However in a low tech tank (non CO2) it still grows easily, just not as quickly. Looks best when planted in groups and to work out how much you need, one pot per 15cm2 is sufficient. Once planted avoid trimming until you can see visible roots - then you can trim heavily, down to a few cm for the best effect.

If you receive this plant with short tiny spikes, it will only display these in shallow water. These flowers are less than 5mm in diameter and 6mm long and are sharply pointed and is indicative of the environment the plant would normally be found in (marshes/bogs etc).

Plant Sizes

You’ll receive a healthy, rooted plant in a pot, similar to those shown. Each one is hand-checked before dispatch.
