Java moss pre-grown on a 4.5 x 4.5 cm mesh scapers pad — the smallest in the pad range, designed for precision moss placement in aquascapes and nano aquariums. The compact square size makes it ideal for filling small gaps between rocks and hardscape, using as individual moss accents exactly where they are needed, or creating detailed planted effects in small tanks where a larger pad would be too bulky.

Java moss is one of the easiest and most adaptable plants in the hobby. It grows in low light without CO2 injection and tolerates a very wide range of water conditions. The moss and the mesh pad can both be cut to any shape with scissors for fitting into tight spaces.

Simply rinse and place the pad in the aquarium — no attachment, planting, or preparation needed. Works as a standalone feature or in groups. Suited to aquariums from 10 litres upward, making it one of the most practical options for nano set-ups and shrimp tanks where precise targeted placement matters.

Information about growing mosses:

1. Slow growing

Mosses are well known for being relaltively easy to grow. Due to the fact they are slow growing, it means demands are low. This means less light, less fertilisers and less care.

2. Not too much light please

Because all mosses are slow growing, you can't force them to grow quicker. So brighter light and loads of CO2 won't turbo charge them - actually you'll just end up stressing them out. Whilst some will always grow faster than others, mosses take time to get to the stage you want them to be. Patience.

3. Trimming is beneficial

Like all plants, mosses need trimming with a shaprt pair of scissors so don't hold back. Avoid them getting leggy, trim them to keep their shape and they will reward you with better growth which is a deeper green and dense.

Customers praised this moss pad for rapid growth, with one noting it "doubled in height in a week." The moss establishes quickly on rocks and wood, creating natural hiding spots for fish and shrimp. Most found it healthy upon arrival with fast service. Some noted it's smaller than expected and one mentioned thin coverage with exposed thread loops.

  • A week later, and they are twice the height!! I didn't expect them to grow THAT well!
  • The moss started growing immediately and is spreading over the wood wonderfully.
  • Very pleased with this moss as it gives an instant carpet look.

Impressive Little Things

I bought these to help establish some moss in my tank for the shrimp and aesthetics, this stuff has come on leaps and bounds since been placed in the tank and appears to be out growing the Tropica moss purchased from another supplier, so I am very happy!

The moss on these is a lot thinner than the picture shows and the nylon thread holding it on had exposed loops which were unsafe for my fish.

Was initially a bit disappointed as it is quite small, my fault really just did not see it as that small, but very pleased stuck to a cave and moss is growing really nicely.

Great way to get the moss started in the tank. I cut the pad into smaller pieces and placed them on wood and rocks. After a month I have large bushes off moss that the fish and shrimp low to hide in.

Can I cut it to a different shape?
