Echinodorus africanus is a large, robust sword plant producing broad, paddle-shaped leaves in a rich deep green. The wide, rounded leaf blades give it a bolder, heavier visual presence than many other sword species — it commands attention as a background plant in larger aquariums without relying on colour to do so.
Medium light, no CO2 required, and planted in substrate with root tabs for best results. Echinodorus are heavy root feeders — good substrate nutrition matters more than liquid fertilisation. Growth is reliable and steady once established.
