Rotala rotundifolia Blood Red is a highly selected form of the popular Rotala rotundifolia producing exceptionally deep, saturated blood-red to crimson colouration under bright light and CO2 — significantly more intense and consistently red than standard rotundifolia forms. One of the most reliably coloured red background plants for planted aquariums, it is valued for the depth and consistency of its red pigmentation compared to forms that produce pink or orange rather than true red tones.
It benefits from bright light and CO2 supplementation for the most vivid, consistent blood-red colouration. Under lower light or without CO2 the colour fades toward orange-pink and the plant grows more loosely. Iron and micronutrient fertilisation are important for sustaining the deep red pigmentation on actively growing new stems over the long term.
Supplied as a Tropica 1-2-GROW! tissue culture cup, this plant arrives completely free from snails, pest algae, and pesticide residue. Rinse the gel, separate stems and plant into the substrate. Suits aquariums from 50 litres upward with bright lighting and CO2 — a deeply coloured, reliable red background plant that is fully shrimp safe.
