Description
A ceramic fish cave with a single entrance pre-grown with aquarium moss, combining a functional fish shelter with a live planted surface. The moss covers the cave exterior and softens its ceramic form, creating a natural overgrown rock appearance that integrates well into planted and natural aquascape layouts. Fish readily adopt single-hole caves as territory — the planted exterior makes the whole piece feel like a naturalised feature rather than a tank ornament.
Aquarium moss is one of the easiest plants available. It grows in low light without CO2 injection and tolerates a wide range of water conditions. Shrimp graze on the biofilm that develops on the moss surface and use the cave as shelter alongside any fish that inhabit it. The moss will slowly increase its coverage over the ceramic surface as it grows.
The moss is pre-established on the cave so no further attachment is needed — simply rinse and place in the aquarium. The ceramic is heavy and sinks immediately. Suited to small catfish, loaches, dwarf cichlids, shrimp, and any fish that appreciates defined shelter. Works in aquariums of 30 litres and above.
Plant Sizes
The image of the plant you'll be receiving is just an example of what you can expect. Each plant is unique and may vary in size and shape, so it won't be an exact match to the photo. If we provide a size guide, keep in mind that it's just an estimate and that plants can vary in size depending on the time of year.

My tank has no artificial items. Real wood, plants, rocks etc only. I did want somewhere for the fish to hide, but wanted something in keeping with the rest of the tank. I was so lucky to find the moss cave. It's a good size and fits right in. We'll worth purchasing. Love it, and so will the fish.
Amazing product ,lovely bushy ,and healthy Moss ,it’s perfect for my Betta as there’s no sharp edges for him ,which is great ,also such quick delivery and really well packaged ,I’ve had a few plants from them and they are such good quality ,there’s an Anubias on the video that I had from them and it’s grown so well ,great company
Would this work in a garden pond?
No, this is for a tropical aquarium not a garden pond.
Are the edges smooth on this item as I want to use it in a Betta aquarium ,as they can easily rip their fins ?
Yes it's fish safe
Product FAQs
Helpful details before you buy.
What fish will use a single-hole cave?
Small catfish, loaches, dwarf cichlids, corydoras, and shy community fish readily adopt single-hole caves as territory. Shrimp also shelter inside.
Does the moss need CO2 or special lighting?
No — moss grows under standard aquarium lighting without CO2 injection.
Will the cave discolour the water?
No — the ceramic is inert and does not affect water chemistry. Moss may initially release minimal tannins but this is harmless.
Will the moss spread over time?
Yes, slowly. The moss will increase its coverage across the ceramic surface and may extend onto the surrounding substrate.
Is it suitable for shrimp tanks?
Yes, fully. The cave provides shelter and the moss gives a grazing surface that shrimp use constantly.
