Description

This three-hole coconut comes with live moss already growing across it, creating an instant aquascape piece that doubles as a refuge for shrimp, fry, and small fish. Place it in the tank and it's immediately at work — the moss provides a constant grazing surface for shrimp, and the three holes offer shelter that fish are drawn to instinctively.

The moss is a slow grower but very low maintenance, tolerating a wide range of water conditions and light levels with no CO2 needed. In a shrimp tank it practically looks after itself: shrimp keep the surface clean by grazing on algae and detritus, which in turn encourages healthy moss growth. It can also be trimmed with scissors to keep the shape tidy.

Approx dimensions 10 x 5cm.

Product FAQs

Helpful details before you buy.

Is it safe for shrimp?

Yes — this is one of the best products for shrimp tanks. Shrimp graze on the moss constantly and use the coconut holes as shelter. Particularly popular in breeding setups.

Will the moss grow over time?

Yes, slowly. It responds well to regular fertilisation and moderate light, gradually spreading across and beyond the coconut. Trim with scissors to keep the shape.

Does it need CO2 or special lighting?

Neither. Moss is one of the most adaptable plants in the hobby and will grow under basic aquarium lighting with no CO2 supplementation.

Will it sink?

Yes — the coconut is dense enough to sink straight away. No anchoring or weighting needed.

What type of moss is it?

The coconut is grown with live aquarium moss. The exact species can vary by season and stock, but it is always a low-maintenance variety suited to aquarium conditions.
