Description

Anubias barteri 'Gold Coin' is a limited-edition cultivar of Anubias barteri with distinctively round, coin-shaped leaves that set it apart from the more elongated leaf shapes of most Anubias varieties. The leaves are deep, rich green with the characteristic waxy texture all Anubias are known for.

Like all Anubias, it is undemanding: no CO2 required, tolerant of low light, and attached to wood or rock rather than planted into substrate. Growth is slow but the compact round-leaved habit makes it a neat and eye-catching plant that works particularly well alongside other Anubias varieties.

Remove from the pot, rinse, and attach the rhizome to hardscape using thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome.

Product FAQs

Helpful details before you buy.

What makes Anubias barteri Gold Coin different?

The leaves are distinctively round and coin-shaped, unlike the more elongated or oval leaves of most Anubias varieties. It is a limited-edition cultivar.

Does it need CO2?

No — like all Anubias it grows happily in low-tech setups without CO2 supplementation.

How do I plant Anubias Gold Coin?

Attach the rhizome to wood or rock using thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome in substrate — this causes rot.

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes. The care requirements are the same as standard Anubias barteri — easy, forgiving, and low maintenance.

How do I prevent melting when I first add it?

Remove from the pot, rinse the roots, and let it float for a few days before attaching it. This acclimatisation period helps reduce leaf melt during the adjustment.
