    Description

Anubias heterophylla is a tall, elegant Anubias from West Africa producing long, elongated deep green leaves that can reach up to 30cm in length. It sits usefully in height between the compact nana varieties and the very tall hastifolia, making it a striking midground to background option in medium and large aquariums.

It shares the same undemanding care profile as all Anubias: no CO2, tolerant of low light, and attached to wood or rock rather than buried in substrate. Growth is slow but reliable, and fish leave the tough leaves completely alone — even herbivorous species.

Remove from the pot and attach the rhizome to hardscape using thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome.

A lot bigger than I was expecting, really healthy looking out of the box and it's already produced 2 new leaves in a matter of 2-3 weeks. I glued it to a piece of bogwood and it looks great in the corner of my tank hiding the filter uptake pipe. Well worth the money.

We ordered this plant because it was said to resistant to the eating habits of Silver Dollars. It arrived well packaged and in good condition and looks very well in the tank. So far the fish have not chosen to eat it, but it is only two weeks

I had a couple of these both in first class condition of good size excellent shape, great root growth, now looking superb in my tank. I found these listed under Non- Edible Plants which so far has proved correct as they have resisted the advances of my Six Clown Loach two of which are over 6 inches and a multitude of other plant attacking fish.

The plant I received came really nice and rather big. I have small tank so the Anubias takes some space but looks absolutely stunning, big leaves and a very strong plant. I have it attached to the driftwood. I am very happy with it.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

How big does Anubias heterophylla get?

Leaves can reach up to 30cm in length, making it one of the taller Anubias species. Good for midground to background placement in medium and large aquariums.

    Does it need CO2?

No — it is as undemanding as all Anubias. No CO2 needed, tolerant of low light and a wide range of water conditions.

    How do I plant it?

Attach the rhizome to wood or rock using thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome — this causes rot.

Is it safe for cichlids and herbivorous fish?

Yes — the tough Anubias leaves are left alone by virtually all fish, including herbivorous species.

Will fish use it for shelter?

Yes — the long, broad leaves create natural cover that fish, especially shy species and fry, are instinctively drawn to.
