    Description

Bucephalandra biblis is a small-leaved Bornean epiphyte producing glossy, oval, deep green leaves with a characteristic iridescent sheen — a subtle blue-purple shimmer that catches the light and gives the plant a jewel-like quality not found in most aquarium plants. The small leaf size makes it ideal for detail work on hardscape in both nano and larger aquariums.

Like all Bucephalandra it attaches to wood or rock rather than being planted in substrate. It is slow growing and undemanding: low light, no CO2 essential (though CO2 enhances the iridescence). Shrimp are drawn to the biofilm that develops on the broad leaf surface.

Attach the rhizome to hardscape with thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome.

Beautiful plant which arrived in perfect condition. As with most other buces, it is a slow grower so too early after 2 weeks to comment on growth but others I have purchased over 1 year ago are doing well and have grown significantly

Received an absolutely beautiful specimen with fantastic coloration (closer to blue than green, with small white speckles that make a very 'cosmic' impression)

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

Is Bucephalandra biblis difficult to grow?

No — like most Bucephalandra it grows well in a range of conditions: low light, no CO2 essential. The main requirement is attaching the rhizome to hardscape rather than burying it.

    Does it need CO2?

CO2 is not required but improves growth rate and enhances the iridescent leaf sheen that biblis is known for.

    How do I plant it?

Attach the rhizome to wood or rock using thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome — this causes rot.

    Is it shrimp-safe?

Yes — Bucephalandra is one of the most shrimp-friendly plants available. Shrimp actively graze on the biofilm that develops across the leaf surface.

    How fast does it grow?

Slowly — typical of all Bucephalandra. Low maintenance once established, and the slow growth means it holds its position on hardscape well.
