What makes the Crisped Leaves variety different from other Buces?
The leaf margins are distinctively crimped and crinkled, adding a tactile, sculptural texture that most Bucephalandra varieties don't have. Particularly interesting at close viewing distance.
Does it need CO2?
No — it grows without CO2. Supplementation encourages more compact, robust growth but isn't essential.
How do I plant it?
Attach the rhizome to wood or rock using thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome — this causes rot.
Is it shrimp-safe?
Yes — the textured leaf surface is particularly attractive to shrimp, which graze on the biofilm that develops across it.
How fast does it grow?
Slowly — typical of all Bucephalandra. Once attached and established it requires very little maintenance.
