Description

Echinodorus harbii is a graceful Echinodorus cultivar with soft green-flushed leaves and a refined, elegant character — less showy than the red or spotted cultivars but genuinely attractive in a more understated way. The leaves have a smooth, clean quality and the plant develops into a well-structured midground specimen over time.

Medium light, no CO2 required, planted in substrate with root tabs. Growth is reliable. A good choice for aquascapers who want sword plant presence without the strong colour statement of red or patterned cultivars.

Plant in the midground. Propagation via daughter plants on flower stems.

Not as tall as I expected

Picture gives the impression of a tall plant, but was quite shocked how short it was, perfectly healthy just wish it had been bigger

I bought this along with another plant. Both are healthy and growing well from the start. I used a root tab to assist with the growth. Very pleased with my purchases.

Product FAQs

Helpful details before you buy.

How does harbii differ from other swords?

It has a softer, more refined appearance than showy red or spotted swords — the clean green-flushed leaves are elegant rather than dramatic.

Does it need CO2?

No — grows without CO2. Root tabs near the roots support the best growth.

How large does it get?

Moderate — 20–35cm in most conditions. Good midground plant.

How do I fertilise it?

Root tabs near the roots — Echinodorus are heavy root feeders.

How do I propagate it?

Daughter plants on flower stems — detach once they have 3–4 leaves and visible roots.
