Description

Echinodorus ozelot Green is a striking hybrid sword plant distinguished by its bold dark spotting across bright green, oval leaves. The contrasting pattern gives each leaf a mottled, almost leopard-like appearance that stands out clearly against both pale substrates and darker planted backgrounds.

It is easy to keep, requiring only medium light and no CO2 injection to perform well. Like all Echinodorus, it is a root feeder and responds well to a nutrient-rich substrate or the addition of root tabs placed near the base of the plant.

Supplied as an established potted plant, Echinodorus ozelot Green typically reaches 20–35 cm in height, making it ideal for the midground of aquariums from 100 litres upward. Its distinctive spotted leaves make it a popular focal-point plant in nature aquarium and community planted layouts alike.

absolutely spectacular! Arrived healthy and in great condition. They have thrived in both of my aquariums and are growing quite big. One pot arrived and due to the stem and roots we were not able to split it at all and it is planted as one big unit, however, the second pot I was able to split into two portions and plant both next to each other. FYI, this looks fantastic with both next to one another.

What causes the spotted pattern on the leaves?

The dark spots are a characteristic feature of the ozelot hybrid, a cross between Echinodorus schlueteri and Echinodorus barthii. The pattern is genetic and stable.

Does it need CO2?
