Description

Hydrocotyle vulgaris, marsh pennywort, is a native European aquatic plant with small, round to kidney-shaped leaves on long, slender stems. In aquariums it can be grown submerged as a floating or creeping plant, while in pond set-ups and paludariums it thrives at the water margin with leaves emerging above the surface.

It is an undemanding species, growing under low to medium light without CO2 injection. It prefers cooler water and is better suited to temperate, coldwater, and unheated aquariums than to consistently warm tropical conditions. Its modest requirements make it accessible to beginners and those managing naturalistic or native species set-ups.

?ordered 10 of this HYDROCOTYLE VULGARIS (MARSH PENNYWORT) and got it few days later in post. I was so excited when I got the package. However when I opened the package I was in great disappointment as half of the plants were in very bad condition. There were only few leaves on the plants and the leaves were even yellow in colour. The plants does not look healthy at all, although I was being told that they are an easy grow plants and they will grow back into shape again.

Bought a similar hydrocotyle a while ago and growing well. Decided to try Vulgaris to compare. Growing well and when I have enough I'll try it emersed. Good plant to just let grow and fill space, perhaps in a fry tank.
