Description

Microsorum pteropus Eco Bunch is an economy bundle of the ever-popular Java fern, offering an excellent quantity of established plant material at great value. Java fern is one of the most forgiving and widely kept aquarium plants, with distinctive wavy-edged, lance-shaped green leaves and the unique quality of growing attached to hardscape rather than being planted in the substrate.

It grows best when attached to wood or rock using fishing line, cotton thread, or aquarium-safe glue, with its rhizome exposed and free rather than buried. It thrives in low to medium light without CO2 injection, tolerating a very wide range of water conditions and making it an ideal plant for community tanks, African cichlid set-ups, and low-tech aquariums.

The Eco Bunch format provides multiple stems for attaching across a piece of driftwood or several rocks throughout the aquarium. Java fern spreads naturally over time as it produces adventitious plantlets on older leaves, making it self-propagating in the aquarium without any intervention from the hobbyist.

Large Healthy starter plants

I purchased a group offer of 5 of these "Eco" plugs, in each I got 3-5 individual leaves which were very long and healthy and had a small root system, i planted them all together but you could have each leaf to start a new plant if you wanted to be more patient, only fault is roots were a bit short but they will grow =]

Arrived in very neat bunches with ceramic rings as shown in photo. Healthy plants which are doing very well and add nice colour and texture. Now starting to see some new growth appearing on underside of leaves which will allow propogation. Very happy.
