Alternanthera reineckii Mini is a compact, highly selected cultivar of the popular red aquarium stem plant Alternanthera reineckii, producing the same rich crimson to dark red colouration as the standard form but on noticeably shorter internodes and smaller leaves — making it far more suitable for foreground and lower midground positions in planted aquariums where the full-sized form would be too tall.
It requires bright light and CO2 injection for the most vivid and sustained dark red colouration and compact growth. Without CO2 or bright light the colour fades quickly toward green and the plant grows more loosely. Iron-rich fertilisation and regular trimming are important for maintaining dense, well-coloured growth and keeping the compact internodes that distinguish it from the larger forms.
Supplied as a Tropica 1-2-GROW! tissue culture cup, this plant arrives completely free from snails, pest algae, and pesticide residue. Rinse the gel, separate stems and plant into the substrate. Suits aquariums from 40 litres upward with bright lighting and CO2 — a compact, vivid foreground red plant that is fully shrimp safe and a classic in planted aquascaping.
