    Description

Anubias barteri var. nana 'Pinto' is a rare cultivar of Anubias nana with striking variegated leaves displaying patterns of white, light green, and dark green across each 3–6cm leaf. The patterning varies considerably between individual plants, and under some conditions the plant may produce leaves that are more or less white — or occasionally fully dark green.

Despite its unusual appearance, care requirements are identical to standard Anubias nana: low light, no CO2, and attached to wood or rock rather than planted in substrate. One key note: while good lighting brings out the white patterning, excessive light can bleach the leaves and invite algae. Keep it in moderate, indirect light for the best results.

Attach the rhizome to hardscape using thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

    What makes Anubias Pinto different?

The variegated leaves display patterns of white, light green, and dark green, creating a striking marbled appearance unlike any standard Anubias.

    Can the patterning change?

Yes — the degree of variegation can vary between individual plants and may change with conditions. Some plants occasionally produce mostly or entirely dark green leaves.

    Does it need special care?

No — care requirements are identical to standard Anubias nana: low light, no CO2, attached to hardscape. Avoid intense light, which can bleach the white areas.

Why is Anubias Pinto more expensive than standard nana?

Variegated cultivars grow slowly and are propagated in smaller quantities. The unusual leaf patterning makes them sought-after collector's plants.

How do I plant Anubias Pinto?

Attach the rhizome to wood or rock with thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Never bury the rhizome.
