Description
Anubias barteri nana is pre-attached to a small piece of natural lava rock, creating a compact and instantly ready planted feature for any aquarium. Lava rock is a porous, lightweight volcanic material with a dark, rough surface texture that provides excellent anchorage for the Anubias rhizome and creates a natural-looking planted rock feature that sits securely on the aquarium floor.
Anubias nana is one of the easiest aquarium plants available. It grows in low to medium light without CO2 injection and is tolerant of a wide range of water temperatures, hardness, and pH. Growth is slow but the plant is extremely long-lived — once established on the lava rock it requires very little ongoing attention.
The plant is pre-attached to the lava rock so no further attachment is needed — simply rinse and place in the aquarium. The lava rock sinks immediately without weighting and can be placed anywhere in the tank and moved as needed. An effective and low-maintenance planted feature for aquariums from 20 litres upward.

Lovely little plant on rock.
Hardy and easy to look after.
Only been in our brand new tank for a week but looks great.
Wish I had more money as I'd buy so many more plants from these guys! Amazing communication. Fantastic delivery. Plants arrived very healthy. Hopefully I can keep them that way!!! 🙏 🤞
Very nice
Bargain and looks great.
Looks great with other plants growing well. Delivery as usual excellent
Well pleased with this purchase. Bigger than expected but very good quality plant
Very happy with my purchase.
The plant is good and looks very healthy but when it arrived it wasn’t attached to the rock. As a beginner I attempted this myself but this hasn’t been to successful as I noticed it came loose this morning. I’m sure with practice I’ll get it to stay but this was annoying.
Plant arrived healthy and attached to lava stone as advertised
Small plant - leaves lasted only a couple days on it .
Lovely very healthy little plants very pleased with them, apart from the fact that one of them was not attached to the stone when they arrived, had considerable difficulty reattaching, but managed eventually
Product FAQs
Helpful details before you buy.
Does the Anubias need to be planted in substrate?
No — the rhizome is already attached to the lava rock. Just place it wherever you want in the tank. It can be moved at any time without disturbing your substrate.
Does it need CO2 or specialist lighting?
No — Anubias nana is one of the most low-tech plants available and grows under standard aquarium lighting without CO2.
Will the plant grow further over the rock?
Yes, slowly. The rhizome will continue to grow along the lava rock surface over time, increasing its coverage.
Is lava rock safe for fish and shrimp?
Yes — lava rock is aquarium-safe and does not affect water chemistry significantly. It is a popular aquarium material that provides additional surface area for beneficial bacteria.
What tank size does it suit?
It works from 20 litres upward in any position — foreground, midground, or tucked into hardscape layouts.
