How does henkelianus differ from boivinianus?
The main difference is leaf shape — henkelianus has much slimmer, narrower leaves compared to the broad, bullated (textured) leaves of boivinianus. Both are large background plants from Madagascar.
Why does it cost more than a bare bulb?
These are supplied with leaves already established. We've grown and cared for the bulb so you get immediate visual impact without waiting for it to sprout from scratch.
Does it go dormant?
Yes — all Aponogeton go through natural dormancy cycles. When leaves die back, leave the bulb in place; it will regrow after a few weeks of rest.
Does it need CO2 or bright light?
No — it's well suited to low-tech setups. Low light and no CO2 are fine, though better conditions will improve growth rate.
Where should I position it?
Background only given its leaf length. Drop the bulb into the substrate and it will anchor itself naturally.
