Description

Aponogeton longiplumulosis is a lesser-known but attractive Aponogeton species producing long, slender, delicately formed leaves with a graceful, flowing quality as they move through the water. The leaves are notably narrower and more linear than most Aponogeton species, giving it a lighter and more elegant appearance in the aquarium — an unusual find for planted tank enthusiasts who want something genuinely different.

It grows in low light without CO2 injection and tolerates a range of water conditions. Like all Aponogeton it goes through natural dormancy cycles when leaves die back and the bulb rests before regrowing — this is normal behaviour. A nutrient-rich substrate supports steady growth and the plant becomes more impressive with each growth cycle.

Supplied as a dormant bulb. Plant in substrate leaving the top third of the bulb above the surface. Allow several weeks for growth to begin as the bulb comes out of dormancy. Suited to aquariums of 80 litres and above as a background plant.
