    Description

Bucephalandra sp. Red is a red-leaved Bornean epiphyte that provides strong colour contrast in aquascapes dominated by green plants. The leaves carry warm red to deep red tones that can intensify under good lighting, making it one of the more visually striking colour accents available for attachment to wood and rock.

Care is the same as all Buce: low light, attached to hardscape, no CO2 required. Red colouration tends to deepen with slightly better lighting. Slow growing and low maintenance once established. Shrimp coexist well with all Bucephalandra.

Attach the rhizome to wood or rock with thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

    Does the red colour stay?

Yes — the red tone is stable. It can deepen with better lighting and CO2 supplementation.

    Does it need CO2?

No — grows without CO2, though CO2 can deepen the red leaf colouration.

    How do I plant it?

Attach the rhizome to wood or rock with thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome.

    Is it shrimp-safe?

Yes — all Bucephalandra are excellent with shrimp.

    How fast does it grow?

Slowly — typical of all Buce. Very low maintenance once established.
