    Description

Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Green' is one of the most popular and widely kept aquarium plants in the world, and for good reason — it is robust, adaptable, and forgiving of the kinds of conditions that would stress many other plants. The glossy, slightly wavy green leaves typically reach 15–25cm in height, though the size varies with light levels. In brighter light it stays more compact; in lower light it grows taller.

Low light, no CO2, planted in substrate. Root tabs or a nutrient-rich substrate support good growth and runner production. Like all Crypts, temporary leaf melt can follow being moved to a new tank — leave the rhizome in the substrate and new growth will appear within a few weeks. Once established it spreads steadily and becomes more attractive over time.

Plant roots in the substrate without burying the crown. Foreground to midground positioning in most aquariums. Once established, avoid moving it — disturbance can trigger melt.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

Is Cryptocoryne wendtii Green suitable for beginners?

Yes, it is one of the most beginner-friendly aquarium plants. Its robust nature and adaptability to a wide range of water conditions make it very forgiving.

What is Crypt melt and should I be worried?

Crypt melt occurs when the plant sheds leaves after a change in environment. Do not remove the plant — it will regrow within 30 days once it adjusts.

Does Cryptocoryne wendtii Green need CO2?

No, CO2 is not required. It grows well in low-tech tanks, though good lighting and regular fertilisation will improve growth rate and leaf colour.

Where should I place Cryptocoryne wendtii Green in my aquarium?

It works well as a foreground or midground plant. Under strong light it stays compact and can carpet; in lower light it grows taller and broader.

Can I move Cryptocoryne wendtii Green once planted?

Avoid moving it once established. Disturbance to the roots can trigger Crypt melt. Choose your position carefully before planting.
