How large does Echinodorus reni grow?
It typically reaches 30–40 cm in height with a broad rosette spread. It suits aquariums of 150 litres or more.
Does it need CO2?
No. It grows reliably under medium light without CO2 injection. Nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs will give the best results.
Is there any colour on the leaves?
New growth can display subtle reddish-brown tones before maturing to deep green. Good light and iron-rich fertiliser enhance the colour on young leaves.
How does it compare to Echinodorus bleheri?
Reni is somewhat similar to bleheri but with slightly broader, more heart-shaped leaves. Both are large, easy-to-keep background plants.
Is it good for providing cover for fish?
Yes. Its broad, dense foliage creates natural shelter and is particularly appreciated by cichlids, catfish, and other species that seek out plant cover.
