    Description

Lysimachia nummularia aurea is the golden form of creeping Jenny, producing rounded, coin-shaped leaves in warm yellow-green to golden tones that provide a striking colour contrast in the midground of planted layouts. Its creeping, trailing growth habit fills gaps and spreads gently across the substrate, creating a softly textured golden accent among green and red neighbouring plants.

It is an undemanding species growing well under medium light without CO2 injection. The golden colouration is most vivid under good light; in lower light conditions the leaves may become more green. Regular trimming of upward-growing stems keeps it in the creeping form typical of the species. Cuttings root readily for propagation.

Supplied as an established potted plant, Lysimachia nummularia aurea suits aquariums from 40 litres upward. Its golden leaf colour, easy care, and creeping habit make it one of the more distinctive and versatile midground options for planted aquariums where a warm colour accent at low height is needed.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

How golden does it actually look in the aquarium?

Under good medium light it produces warm yellow-green to golden leaves that contrast attractively with green plants. In lower light the colouration shifts more toward green.

    Does it need CO2?

No. It is an easy plant that grows well without CO2 under medium light, making it suitable for low-tech aquariums.

    How does it grow?

It creeps and trails, spreading horizontally across the substrate. Some stems grow more upright and can be trimmed back to maintain the creeping form.

Is it easy to care for?

Yes. Like the green form, nummularia aurea is undemanding and tolerates a range of water conditions, making it suitable for beginners.

    How do I propagate it?

Trim stem cuttings and replant them in the substrate. They root quickly and continue spreading in the same creeping growth pattern.
