Mixed Boxes are the best way to add lots of plants into your aquarium without the hassle of having to choose the plants - leave it up to the experts!
Our plant manager will persoanlly pick your plants choosing a range of foreground, midground and background plants. All mixed boxes have a range of colours and sizes so when they arrive with you, it looks beautiful immediately.
What size should I choose?
Select the mixed box that is closest to your aquarium taking into consideration any wood or rocks you already have in there. If that's the case, try the next size down.
Can I request specific plants in a Mixed Box?
You can't request specific plants but if you'd like more foreground than background for eg, shoot us a message and we'll see what we can do for you.

Not sure which aquarium plants to choose? Our mixed aquarium plant boxes make it simple. Choose your tank size, select Standard or Premium, and we’ll hand-pick a fresh selection of aquarium plants for you.
Each box is chosen by our plant team to give you a balanced mix of shapes, heights, colours and textures. The aim is to help you create a natural planted aquarium without spending hours trying to work out which plants go together.
These mixed boxes are ideal for new setups, tank refreshes, or anyone who wants a good spread of aquarium plants without the guesswork. Depending on current stock, your box may include a mix of foreground, midground and background-style plants, giving your aquarium a fuller and more established look from the start.
Standard or Premium
Standard is the best choice if you want a great-value mixed selection of healthy aquarium plants from our main greenhouse stock.
Premium gives us more freedom to select from the full greenhouse, including slower-growing, less common or higher-value plants where available.
Choosing the right size
Choose the mixed box closest to your aquarium size. If your tank already contains lots of wood, rock or existing plants, you may prefer to choose one size down. If you want a fuller planted look from the start, choose your actual tank size.

- 75L aquarium: 18 pots

Freshly selected for variety
Your box will be selected from fresh available stock, so the exact plants vary. This allows us to choose healthy plants with a useful mix of size, colour, texture and planting position rather than sending the same fixed selection every time.
Boxes may contain potted aquarium plants, tissue culture plants, or a combination of both, depending on the best available selection at the time of picking.
Planting and aftercare
Before planting, remove potted plants from their pots and rockwool. Give each plant enough space so it can settle, root and grow properly. Foreground plants are usually placed towards the front, midground plants around the centre, and taller background plants towards the back of the aquarium.
After planting, support your new plants with suitable aquarium plant nutrition. Neutro fertilisers are ideal for regular feeding, and Neutro TerraTabs are useful for heavier root-feeding plants once they are settled into the substrate.

Orderered the pack for a 150lt tank to put in a 250lt tank & nearly ran out of room. As each pot held essentially 5 rooted cuttings had plenty of healthy plants. Plants were deivered quickly, all in good condition. Nice mix of plants, suitable for front mid and rear of tank. 11 survived well and started to grow on immediately .. only one loss. Thanks Aqua essentials!

Good quality plants arrived in good condition despite being in transit for 4 days.
Only slight disappointment was that they were all long stem plants and 1 hairgrass. Something for the middle ground would've been nice.

The quality of plants and delivery was absolutely fine it was the selection I had issue with hence 4stars . I ordered pack of 12 which came as 6 pairs 2pairs of which were tissue culture which is in the description at end but initially was disappointing as not what I expected from potted .
I raised the issue and it was dealt with in a prompt and efficient manner .

I didn’t realised so many would come in the box when I selected my option, but they were all healthy! Unfortunately, my guppy have torn most of them to shreds, but the ones that are surviving are doing alright.

Great selection of plants, for the front, middle and back of the aquarium. Really pleased with the selection I got. Everything was packaged really well and all the plants were really healthy! Also when splitting them for planting I had so much I put some in my second tanks.

What is the difference between Standard and Premium?
The Standard Box is the best-value option and includes a balanced selection from our main greenhouse stock. The Premium Box gives us more freedom to select from the full greenhouse, which may include slower-growing, less common or higher-value plants depending on availability.

Will I receive the same plants every time?
No, the exact plant selection changes depending on fresh stock and availability. This allows us to choose healthy plants and create a varied box rather than sending a fixed list every time.
Will the plants be labelled?
Plants are normally supplied in their original pots or tissue culture cups, often with plant labels where available. However, labelling can vary depending on the plant and supplier.
Do I need fertiliser for these plants?
Aquarium plants need nutrients after planting. A suitable aquarium plant fertiliser will help support healthy growth, especially once the plants begin settling into your aquarium.
Can I request specific plants in my mixed box?
This product is designed as a mixed selection chosen by our team, so specific plants cannot be guaranteed. If you need exact plants, it is better to order those products individually.
