    Description

Sagittaria natans is a vigorous, grass-like aquarium plant from North America producing long, narrow, ribbon-like leaves that grow upright toward the light surface, creating a tall, naturalistic meadow effect in the background of planted aquariums. Its bold vertical form and bright green colouration make it an effective and easily managed background plant for a range of aquarium styles.

It is a tolerant and easy species growing well under low to medium light without CO2 injection and adapting to a wide range of water conditions including moderately hard water. Growth is fast once established and the plant spreads via runners to form a spreading colony over time. Regular thinning of runner-produced daughter plants keeps the planting tidy and in the desired position.

Supplied as an established potted plant, Sagittaria natans suits aquariums from 60 litres upward. Its easy care, fast growth, and tall grass-like form make it a reliable and visually effective background plant for community aquariums, biotope set-ups, and low-tech planted aquariums where a naturalistic grass meadow effect is wanted.
