Anubias barteri 'Kirin' is a cultivated variant of Anubias nana with a striking distinguishing feature: the edges of its small, ovate leaves are strongly wavy and undulating, giving each leaf an almost dragon-like rippled texture. The name 'Kirin' references the dragon of Asian mythology. Leaves measure approximately 3–4cm, similar in size to standard nana.
Care requirements are identical to all Anubias: low light, no CO2, and attached to wood or rock rather than buried in substrate. Growth is slow, but the unusual leaf texture makes it a standout specimen in a planted layout — particularly effective alongside the smoother-leaved standard Anubias varieties.
Remove from the pot and attach the rhizome to hardscape with thread or aquarium-safe superglue. Do not bury the rhizome.
