    Mixed Boxes are the best way to add lots of plants into your aquarium without the hassle of having to choose the plants - leave it up to the experts!

    Our plant manager will persoanlly pick your plants choosing a range of foreground, midground and background plants. All mixed boxes have a range of colours and sizes so when they arrive with you, it looks beautiful immediately.

    What size should I choose?

    Select the mixed box that is closest to your aquarium taking into consideration any wood or rocks you already have in there. If that's the case, try the next size down.

    Can I request specific plants in a Mixed Box?

    You can't request specific plants but if you'd like more foreground than background for eg, shoot us a message and we'll see what we can do for you.
    Description

    Create a planted setup that actually suits your fish with this hand-picked mix of aquarium plants, chosen by our Plant Manager specifically for warmer discus water.

    Discus are kept at higher temperatures than most planted tanks — typically upper 20s to low 30s°C — and not every plant handles that well. They're also large, gentle fish that need open swimming space, so a discus-friendly layout tends to favour sturdy background and side planting over a densely packed foreground.

    A few things to keep in mind when planning your layout:

    • Choose plants confirmed to tolerate warmer water rather than cooler-water species
    • Leave open swimming space through the mid and foreground for your discus to move freely
    • Background and side planting gives cover without crowding the tank
    • Broader, sturdier leaves generally cope better with warmer, softer water than delicate stem plants

    Each box includes a mix of background, midground and foreground plants suited to warmer discus conditions. As with all our mixed boxes, the exact plants vary week to week depending on what's freshest in stock, so no two boxes are quite the same.

    Superb service, I would have appreciated info as to where plants were best suited in tank, admittedly it gave the height, but I seem to remember last time I bought plants there was guidance front, centre or rear on the packaging.

    I can’t recommend this company enough. The plants are amazing in quality and they way bigger than I was expecting. I have ordered a box for a 300L setup and it completely filled out my 5x2 base with the wood and rocks. The tank looks it was planted weeks ago.
    I wouldn’t go elsewhere for plants in the future.

    As someone who ditheres about choosing plants this is a great starter for my new 200L cube. All of the plants arrived in great condition. Slightly dissapointed that this box didn\'t contain any red varieties, the last box I had from Aqua Essentials had some stunning red plants that did very well in a non CO2 setup but I don\'t know the species. That said the box was still exceptional value for money.
