    Description

The Superfish 22 cm Round Pond Plant Floating Basket is a circular floating planting basket that holds aquatic plants at the water surface of a pond or water feature. The round form provides a symmetrical planted feature that floats freely and can be positioned anywhere in the pond — an effective solution for adding planted coverage where no fixed shelf or ledge is available.

Plant roots extend through the basket base into the water below, absorbing nutrients directly from the pond and providing natural biofiltration alongside the planted visual effect. The 22 cm diameter suits one to two smaller aquatic plant specimens and is particularly practical for small garden ponds, patio water features, and any pond without marginal shelving.

Fill with aquatic planting medium, plant with your chosen aquatic or marginal plants, and place on the pond surface. The basket floats naturally. Suitable for garden ponds and water features of all sizes. Can be anchored with string or a weight if a fixed position is preferred.

    Common Questions

What plants can I put in a floating basket?

Marginal and semi-aquatic plants such as irises, water mint, marsh marigold, and pickerel weed. Use aquatic compost rather than garden compost.

Will it stay where I put it?

It floats freely. For a fixed position, anchor it with a string tied to a pond weight or peg at the edge.

Does it help with pond water quality?

Yes — plant roots growing through the base into the water absorb dissolved nutrients, helping reduce algae fuel.

What is the difference between this and the 30cm basket?

The 22cm basket suits one to two smaller plants. The 30cm version accommodates larger or multiple plants and suits bigger ponds.

What planting medium should I use?

Aquatic compost or rounded gravel. Standard garden compost can cloud the water and should be avoided.
