Description

Helanthium tenellum Green is the vivid bright-green form of the dwarf chain sword, producing short, narrow, grass-like leaves in clean fresh green that spread by runners to form a gradually expanding foreground lawn. Its bright colouration and compact, tidy growth make it an attractive and dependable foreground grass for planted aquariums at all levels of experience.

It is an easy plant growing without CO2 under low to medium light and tolerating a broad range of water conditions. Spreads by producing runner-borne daughter plants that gradually fill the foreground. Dividing and replanting excess plants keeps the layout tidy and controlled. Once settled it is a reliable and low-maintenance foreground species.

Supplied as a Tropica 1-2-GROW! tissue culture cup, this plant arrives completely free from snails, pest algae, and pesticide residue. Rinse the gel and plant individual plantlets into the substrate. Suits aquariums from 25 litres upward — a bright, clean-green foreground grass for low-tech aquariums, community tanks, and shrimp set-ups.

Plant Sizes

The image of the plant you'll be receiving is just an example of what you can expect. Each plant is unique and may vary in size and shape, so it won't be an exact match to the photo. If we provide a size guide, keep in mind that it's just an estimate and that plants can vary in size depending on the time of year.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Tissue cultured plants are supplied young and grown in a sterile environment, so they arrive free from snails, algae and pesticide residue. They may look smaller on arrival, but each cup contains multiple plantlets designed to be divided and planted out, where they establish quickly with minimal melt and grow into place.

I had used some of these tiisue plants 2 years ago and had not been impressed . However this is much better, there were a lot of plants in really good condition . as its a small plant , i decided to keep them as a string to increase the chances of getting some to stay anchored . The ones that remained suspended in the air have send down very strong roots and there are signs of further plants developing . Fully recommended.

Probably won\'t spread quickly in my tank due to it filling space under bigger plants so it won\'t get much light, but either way its a very nice plant to look at.

Top quality plant sent in perfect condition. The gel planting medium was easier to wash off than on the other plants I bought. The plant above the gel planting medium was in superb condition but the root system was a little shallow which made it difficult to stay planted without completely burying the plant. I planted everything eventually but does take some patience.

This does not take anything away from the quality of the plant though and I would highly recommend these plants to any one hence the 5 star rating.

Product Details

1. Grown in a laboratory

Tissue Cultured Plants are unique in so much as they are grown in a laboratory and not a greenhouse. As a result of this, a cast iron guarantee is offered which is 100% so snails and no pesticides.

2. How to handle them

They're a bit different from potted plants because they're grown in an agae solution that contains nutrients and hormones to encrougage plants to grow. Some agar is liquid, others are more solid depending on what the growers prefers. Regardless once they arrive with you, acclimatise to room temperature and then rinse under luke warm tap water. Then plant up.

3. Pot sizes

Nearly all TC pots are 5cm in diameter and the pots will range in fullness depending on many factors such as the natural growth speed of the plant and the time the grower has held them for. Sometimes the pots are exceptionally full and sometimes not so full - something we cannot control. But either way, they're still really good value when you look at the overall plant mass.
