    Description

Anubias barteri nana is one of the most popular aquarium plants, with compact, dark green oval leaves growing from a creeping rhizome. This version comes pre-attached to a piece of natural driftwood designed to float at the water surface, providing the plant with strong surface light while adding an unusual overhead planting element not often seen in home aquariums. It creates a natural canopy effect from above.

Anubias is one of the easiest aquarium plants available. It grows in low to medium light without CO2 injection and tolerates a broad range of water conditions and temperatures. Growth is slow but the plant is extremely long-lived and requires virtually no maintenance once it has settled in.

No anchoring or substrate planting is required — simply drop the floating piece into the tank. It can drift freely or be positioned under a piece of hardscape to hold it in place. Particularly effective in tanks with surface-feeding fish or where unusual planting positions add visual interest. Fully shrimp-safe and suitable for tropical and temperate set-ups.

    Plant Sizes

The image of the plant you'll be receiving is just an example of what you can expect. Each plant is unique and may vary in size and shape, so it won't be an exact match to the photo. If we provide a size guide, keep in mind that it's just an estimate and that plants can vary in size depending on the time of year.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

Will it stay at the surface?

Yes — the driftwood is buoyant and designed to float. It stays at the surface naturally without any weighting or anchoring.

Can I fix it in a position?

Yes — tuck it under a rock or piece of hardscape to hold it in place, or leave it to float freely. It can be repositioned at any time.

    Does it need CO2?

No — Anubias nana grows without CO2 in low to medium light.

Is it good for fish that like the surface?

Yes — it provides shelter and interest at the surface for fish that inhabit the upper part of the tank, and the trailing roots can interest curious fish.

    Is it safe for shrimp?

Yes, fully shrimp-safe. Shrimp will graze on the Anubias leaf surfaces and on the trailing roots.
