ETI Thermometer one of the best in the market place

This is my first external digital thermometer that I have purchased. Very pleased with the easy to read display, although in some situations it could benefit from a backlight.

Arrived well protected against damage and does the job...Take the sticker off the display :))

Accurate bit of kit for a bargain price

If this had worked for me straight out the box it would have been five stars. Unfortunately, couldn\'t (and still can\'t) get the first one to work. Richard, very promptly, organised a replacement direct from ETI, but this did not work either. After carefully bending the contacts and re-inserting the battery several times, it did eventually kick into life. Now that it is working I would say that it is cheaply made but represents excellent value for money with great functionality. It is also accurate, compared with a laboratory grade glass thermometer. So, not an unreserved recommendation but, on balance, probably worth a go. Other reviewers do not seem to have had the same problems!

The picture and the item description (now changed following a web chat with the AquaEssentials) suggested that the Thermometer came with a backlit display, unfortunately the model that arrived didn't have this - shame as I particularly wanted this feature as the device sits in a darkened area.
I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the misleading information....

Very accurate, pleased with purchase, only niggle, could do with a larger surface area for the velcro attachment on the back. I found set up extremely simple.

Great wee gadget

Works well, reads the water and air temperature, easy to use. Only 4 stars because I felt the lead could be a little longer. It is about a metre long which is quite generous but not quite long enough to allow me to place the unit in my aquarium cabinet directly under my Juwel Vision 180.

Early days, simple enough to use and alarm is a useful feature. A replacement for a care-worn device with no alarm. Reasonably priced but how durable remains to be seen.

I bought this thermometer for my first planted aquarium and I am very pleased. The large LCD display makes it very easy to see your aquarium temperature at a glance. The probe that measures the temperature is easily disguised behind plants , bogwood etc and the suction cup secures it very well. A very nice product that is worth consideration.

Ordered this product (lowest price on the net) late in the day but still arrived early next day. Well packaged.

IMO this product represents excellent value for money. It is solid, good looking, has an extra long sensor lead which is practical. The readout is large and clear. The backlight isn't very bright but I'm unlikley to use it.

The ALARM is loud and easily heard above normal household noise levels. You set the desired temperature to be monitored and the unit automatically assigns upper and lower values which will trigger the alarm.

The readout scale is selectable. I chose Fahrenheit and with this setting found the alarm triggers at plus/minus 0.9 degrees

The Set-up instructions are confusing and could be better. Battery is included.

I recently suffered losses after a faulty heater 'boiled' the water. My previous digital thermometer didn't have an alarm so the ETI with it's ALARM FEATURE is a very cheap form of insurance against this happening again.

Accuracy: I have compared the readings of this product and two other digital brands - all three read within 0.1F of each other.

I would have awarded a full set of stars but reluctantly, I dropped one star as the set-up instructions whilst detailed, are poorly written and difficult to follow.

Set-up took about 15 minutes (the main ambiguity is the function of the red button on the back of the unit). However, once set-up was completed the instructions made perfect sense!

My ETI has been in use for a week os so - no problems...

I removed the sensor whilst carrying out some tank maintenance and overlooked the alarm feature but within a few minutes it went off due to slight temperature drop.

Overall, an EXCELLENT product - no hesitation in recommending this one - Get it bought!

A great value gadget that does exactly what it says. Having lost 12 fish recently when my heater packed up I wanted a temperature monitor that gives off an audible alarm if the temperature drops below minimum. This does exactly that and at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend and wish I had thought about getting one of these a month ago.
