About Mixed Boxes
Mixed Boxes are the best way to add lots of plants into your aquarium without the hassle of having to choose the plants - leave it up to the experts!
Our plant manager will persoanlly pick your plants choosing a range of foreground, midground and background plants. All mixed boxes have a range of colours and sizes so when they arrive with you, it looks beautiful immediately.
What size should I choose?
Select the mixed box that is closest to your aquarium taking into consideration any wood or rocks you already have in there. If that's the case, try the next size down.
Can I request specific plants in a Mixed Box?
You can't request specific plants but if you'd like more foreground than background for eg, shoot us a message and we'll see what we can do for you.
Our Delivery Promise to you
If you choose Express Delivery, we will replace any plants that are damaged due to delays. Express Delivery is a fast, trackable, and reliable option with a one hour delivery window. It also ensures that the plants will arrive in the same condition as when they left our facility. If you choose a different postage option, such as Tracked 24 or Tracked 48, you will not be covered for any damages due to delays and will assume the risk yourself if the plants do not arrive in good condition. Express Delivery includes an insurance policy, which may cost more but provides added peace of mind.
If you order before 4pm we dispatch the same working day (Mon-Fri). Shipping prices start at £4.99 depending on the speed of delivery required.
A Jungle Style Aquascape is an aquascape that replicates a jungle scene so tall plants and bulbs create a canopy type layout with smaller bold and big leaved plants below. It may come across as a bit chaotic however it will be very rewarding once you have accomplished it.
Rules of a Jungle aquascape:
- Tall plants or bulbs that have large leaves for creating a canopy effect
- Plants compete for light and territory
- A mixture of different plants below that are completely different in colour and texture resembling the jungle
- Foreground can be a mixture of anything you like but keeping it small and wild looking
- Wood (not included) positioned in the background just protruding through the plants
- Floating plants will create even more of a canopy (not included)
- Limited open space
It can be tricky to create your own Jungle Style aquascape so Aqua Essentials have put together a box with everything you need.
A feature of the Jungle style aquascape is to have wood protruding through the plants however this wood is to be planted up. You will receive a type of either Anubias or Microsorum plant with your box. For best effect, this plant can be attached to wood (not included) using some fine line or fishing line.

Your plants will be wrapped with recyclable Honey Comb wrap - sounds cool because it is :). It interlocks which means we don't need to use tape either, reducing our impact on the environment.
