Japanese Takashi Amano has inspired many aquarium owners to keep the 1-5 cm tall cosmopolitic moss, Riccia fluitans, submerged. It can be kept down by tying it to a stone with a piece of fishing line, but new shoots always grow towards the surface, so it may be necessary to prune it with scissors. Riccia fluitans thrives best with added CO2 and in good growing conditions small oxygen bubbles form on the leaf tips. As a traditional floating plant offers good protection for young fish.

Ordered two tubs from the website and two more from AE through Amazon. All of the pots were packed full of healthy plants and plant growth. I didn’t divide each plant mass up just attached three to rocks and one in the middle “V” of my Java moss covered branch so it grows up and around it. The tank is heavily planted an has fertiliser liquid supplement as well as root plugs. There is also the addition of CO2 injection., standard LED and Plant spectrum LED lighting. The plants are all around 150 to 200% bigger since planting and pearling O2 vigorously. Great plants and service from AE as always. I only ever buy my plants from here.

As always, arrived in perfect condition. There was enough to create 3 separate clumps attached to driftwood. 3 weeks on and the growth is phenomenal. It has at least tripled in size

1. Grown in a laboratory
Tissue Cultured Plants are unique in so much as they are grown in a laboratory and not a greenhouse. As a result of this, a cast iron guarantee is offered which is 100% so snails and no pesticides.
2. How to handle them
They're a bit different from potted plants because they're grown in an agae solution that contains nutrients and hormones to encrougage plants to grow. Some agar is liquid, others are more solid depending on what the growers prefers. Regardless once they arrive with you, acclimatise to room temperature and then rinse under luke warm tap water. Then plant up.
3. Pot sizes
Nearly all TC pots are 5cm in diameter and the pots will range in fullness depending on many factors such as the natural growth speed of the plant and the time the grower has held them for. Sometimes the pots are exceptionally full and sometimes not so full - something we cannot control. But either way, they're still really good value when you look at the overall plant mass.
