Description
Microsorum pteropus, known universally as Java fern, is one of the most popular and reliably easy aquarium plants. This version comes pre-attached to a small piece of spiderwood — a pale, finely branching wood with a distinctive angular structure that contrasts naturally with the broad, dark green Java fern leaves. The combination creates an immediately ready aquascape feature with a naturalistic, organic appearance.
Java fern grows in low to medium light without CO2 injection and is tolerant of a wide range of water conditions, temperatures, and tank inhabitants. Growth is slow but the plant is long-lived and largely self-maintaining once the rhizome has anchored naturally to the spiderwood.
The plant is pre-grown onto the spiderwood so no further attachment is needed — simply rinse and place in the aquarium. Spiderwood may need a brief soak to submerge fully if it initially floats. The small size is suited to aquariums of 30 litres and above. Each piece of spiderwood varies naturally in shape, making every product individual.
