Description

Egeria densa, also known as Elodea densa, is one of the most widely kept oxygenating plants in the aquarium and pond hobby. Its dense whorls of bright green leaves arranged along long, branching stems make it an immediately recognisable and highly effective background plant for both tropical and coldwater set-ups.

It is extremely easy to grow, thriving under low to medium light without CO2 injection. Its rapid growth makes it an excellent nutrient absorber, helping to keep water quality stable in new aquariums and tanks with heavier fish loads. Trimming regularly encourages dense, bushy regrowth from each cutting.

Supplied as two bunches, Egeria densa is best planted in groups at the back of the aquarium or left to float as surface cover. Its fast growth and tolerance of a wide range of water conditions make it one of the most reliable and beginner-friendly aquarium plants available.

Customers praised these oxygenating plants as "lovely healthy plants" that arrived "well packaged" and grew rapidly in aquariums. Most found them excellent quality with "thick, dark green" stems. However, some noted inconsistent bunch sizes, occasional snail contamination, and rare instances of plants arriving yellow or wilting quickly.

  • Really healthy, dense, dark green Elodea. Perfect.
  • Once again lovely thick plush plants. Very happy.
  • Very fast delivery, well packed. The best plants purchased in years!

Amazing plants but brought snails with them

These plants are amazing but after adding them to my tank I’ve started to spot snails tiny snails in my tank

Many thanks for the feedback. As this plant is kept underwater we do mention the chance of snails as it's something that cannot be avoided unless chemicals are used (which we do not recommend).

Hope this helps to explain

Disappointing product

The plants arrived on time but were puny and very disappointing. Can’t believe I paid nearly £10 for them. Not happening again. Sorry.

Hi Julie

I'm sorry to read that - every bunch we receive is exactly the same size and we've been selling Elodea for years, wo I'm surprised to read this. If you could get in contact and send a picture of what you have received I can then help. Send to info@aquaessentials.co.uk

Always a winner

Despite not being a rooted plant, this is still doing very well. It keeps getting uprooted by the fishes, but it doesn't seem to mind at all! Another good choice!

Disappointed.

This time the two Elodea densa plants I received were half the thickness of the plants I usually receive and did not have the metal strips wrapped around the bottom of the plants so are currently floating around my tank..Very disappointed.
