Description
Hygrophila corymbosa Thailand is a distinctive variety of the popular corymbosa species, producing notably large, textured leaves with a more prominently bullated or patterned leaf surface compared to standard forms. Its bold, structured appearance makes it one of the most visually striking Hygrophila variants, with leaves that stand out clearly against finer-textured plants in the aquarium.
Care is as uncomplicated as all other corymbosa varieties. It grows well under low light without CO2 and tolerates a wide range of water conditions. Its vigorous growth rate means regular trimming is needed to prevent it from dominating the aquarium — cuttings root easily and can be used to extend or thicken the planting.
Supplied as an established potted plant, Hygrophila corymbosa Thailand suits aquariums from 80 litres upward given its large leaf size. Used at the back of the layout, its large, textured leaves create a bold background presence that anchors the planted composition and provides strong contrast to smaller-leafed neighbours.

I ordered four of these to grow emersed in a floating planter. They arrived in great shape, bushy and verdant. I repotted them into 9cm baskets and they’re beginning to settle in. Very happy with the quality!

Got to admit it is a stunning looking plant, even better in the flesh than the photo, it reaches out and grabs your eye. How does Thailand differ from standard Hygrophila corymbosa?
The Thailand form has notably larger, more textured and bullated leaves with a more distinctive surface pattern. Otherwise care is identical to other corymbosa varieties.
Does it need CO2?
No. Like all Hygrophila corymbosa forms, the Thailand variety grows well under low light without CO2.
What aquarium size does it suit?
Its large leaf size makes it best suited to aquariums of 80 litres or more, where its substantial leaves can be appreciated without overwhelming the layout.
Is it easy to care for?
Yes. Despite its distinctive appearance, it is no more demanding than standard Hygrophila corymbosa and is suitable for hobbyists of all experience levels.
How do I trim and propagate it?
Trim stems to the desired height and replant the cuttings. They root readily in the substrate and continue to grow, helping to fill in a background planting.
